Launched in December 2010, The Green Soccer Journal takes an innovative approach to the worlds most popular sport. Designed, printed and published in London by design studio Junior Junior, the magazine includes an eclectic mix of football culture and is built on a passion for the game, something which is shared by all of their contributors. Starting in February, we’re proud to carry each issue, available in our store and online.
Displayed in a visually stimulating format, The Green Soccer Journal has worked with amazing photographers, illustrators and writers to create a publication that offers an alternative view on all things football.
From photographic journeys through clubs, discussions with some of the worlds greatest players and their fans, a selection of style features with fashion director Stephen Mann and conversations with a broad range of personalities, The Green Soccer Journal delivers unique content, distorting the lines between football and lifestyle. Each issue aim to explore new avenues and uncover stories from past and present. By continuing to work with inspiring talent, The Green Soccer Journal exists to celebrate football and all of the people that surround it.
Issue 3 Winter 2011/12 focuses on what it takes to be a professional goalkeeper in the modern era; the pressures and responsibilities involved, and the mental strength needed to survive what can be a parlous undertaking.
The issue speaks to some of the games top shot stoppers in Bob Wilson, Tim Howard, and the most expensive goalkeeper of all time, Gianluigi Buffon. They discuss their feelings toward the position, the highs and lows they encountered, and the real reason they went for the gloves. Issue Three also introduces a new shorts section, showcasing snippets of football culture and classic games to keep you occupied over the winter months.
