Just in from Copenhagen is Kokoon, a line new to us, discovered on our buying team’s latest trip to Denmark. Carried only by a select few international online stores, the line is found in a variety of Danish and European retailers. Inspired by timeless and classical ensembles, each piece is designed to be cross-seasonal. The designer, Nanna Sobirk, believes that using silk as the basic fabric for her assortment helps to create a coherent, and enduring collection that represents the Kokoon brand.
Kokoon was created in 2008 by Danish designer Nanna Søbirk who wanted to create a line of clothing comprising easy, everyday-wear with beautiful, high quality fabrics.
The Copenhagen based brand is built upon a simple dogma. Silk is cut. Loved and transformed into pieces that eloquently make you feel and look good. Timeless rather than fashion. Suited for the female body but not to a stranger to the male silhouette. Kokoon is all about the love you have for that certain favorite t-shirt or pair of trousers, that sits well and go with all your other clothes, dressing up or down … That has no season and never go out of style.
Elegance and comfort are combined in a range of basic, durable styles such as tanktops, t-shirts, trousers and blazers. “Working as a designer for large fashion brands, with more-is-more being the main ambition, I got the urge to boil down all my ideas to a long-lasting and refined essence.” -Søbirk. Kookon is that refined essence. The result is a timeless line of colorful silk-silhouettes that will stay in the center of your wardrobe for years to come. Each collection will present a range of key items in various different colors and will also hold a selected few off-beat seasonal pieces for the more edgy taste.
