2012 French Open

Near the end of May every year, tennis greats from around the world gather in Paris, France for the French Open. Often referred to as Roland Garros [Les internationaux de France de Roland-Garros or Tournoi de Roland-Garros], named after the famous French aviator Roland Garros, this tournament is held over two weeks at the Stade Roland Garros. It is considered one of the largest events in the sport. What sets this tournament apart is the slow playing clay surface and five-set men’s singles matches that do not include a tie break. The final set is widely considered to be the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world.

This year, Roland Garros continues in Paris with heavy eyes on Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The French Open tournament is scheduled for May 27 to June 10, 2012 in Paris. You can watch it live from your computer on ESPN and ESPN2.
