Steve Nakamura’s Harajuku

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu does a bit of everything in her native Japan. She’s a singer, a model, a blogger, and she’s also insanely popular. It’s these images of her done up in her signature full Harajuku style that caught our eye. If you’re unfamiliar with Harajuku, it’s named after the Tokyo neighbor where it first originated and I’ll sum it up like this…it’s an impossibly pink world filled with insane clothing and weird toys. Photographed by Steve Nakamura, an L.A. born and bred art director that now lives and works in Tokyo, Kyary succeeds at doing what she does best: looking kawaii (the Japanese word for everything adorable). Nakamura photographed this bundle of cutesy madness for her recently released album Pamyu Pamyu Revolution and it’s accompanying 60 page photo book.
