Technically speaking, it reads the rings by its light and dark value and its texture. It then interprets that data into a musical scale and outputs that data as music.

Oliver Spencer is a man and a fashion brand. Oli, the man, is a designer, a self-taught tailor, a switched-on, hands-on creative. The brand is an expression of modern man; his tastes, his touch, his style.

Oli founded the label in 2002. He wanted a collection that mirrored his own wardrobe: a bridge between popular streetwear and traditional tailoring. Quality fabrics. Modern fits. Old-school construction. Characteristic details. Exquisite craftsmanship. The recipe abides.

The result is wearable, interesting, elegant clothes that are brilliantly put together. Oli’s passion is there in every piece. It’s his name above the door: he’s striving for quality, out there sourcing the fabrics and the buttons and overseeing how it’s all sewn. It’s why even one Oliver Spencer garment can refresh a wardrobe, make you smile and set you apart.

Oli draws inspiration from hunting and the military. He adapts bits of Americana and ideas from Japan into his cool, English aesthetic. He admires Sandy Powell, costume designer for the Martin Scorsese movies Gangs of New York and The Aviator, as much as any fashion designer.

Oliver Spencer has grown up in its nine years, adopted by the world’s best shops. Oli took a standalone New York shop for Oliver Spencer in 2006, in partnership with top U.S. retailer Odin. In 2008, he opened the doors of a second shop, in London, and introduced his womenswear collection. In 2010 a third shop was opened in Toronto and the latest venture has been into shoes. A standalone shoe shop was opened on Lambs Conduit Street in London in spring 2011. A second shop in Soho London is planned for late this year…

There is no escaping the fact that Oliver Spencer is a modern British brand. More than half the line is made in the UK. Oliver Spencer clothes are worn by music icons, from The Rolling Stones to Paul Weller and The Doves, and by movie stars from Toby Jones, Martin Freeman to Benicio Del Toro.

Please shop our edited selection of Oliver Spencer here.

But what does the worlds highest paid artist mean behind these canvases? Why has Mr. Hirst and his many assistants spet countless hours making lots and lots of spots?

Whether you skate or not, the current state of the industry is beyond real and it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on. One relatively new team to watch is the Converse team. They recently just took a trip to Germany & Italy to skate some of Europe’s finest terrain. Click on for a nice little video from a company that’s actually focused toward skating.

Sachs is a sculptor, probably best known for his elaborate recreations of various Modern icons, all of them masterpieces of engineering and design of one kind or another. In an early show he made Knoll office furniture out of phone books and duct tape; later, he recreated Le Corbusier’s 1952 Unité d’Habitation using only foamcore and a glue gun. He’s a really cool guy.

We’re into the science and process behind coffee and what makes each cup so unique. Right now we’re working on a special project with our neighbors across the river that we’ll reveal shortly, but until then, turn your attention to this amazing shop out in Arizona – Cartel Coffee Lab. Hot coffee in the dessert? It works. These guys are taking on a completely new approach to each single cup served. They’re also backing it up with this amazing video that if anything, makes you want a cup of coffee.

Think because it’s cold out that surfing is over? Wrong. When the temperatures get colder, the waves only get bigger. Our buddy Nick tipped us on this place called Shipstern’s Bluff or Shippies for short. It’s a break off the south eastern coast of Tasmania on the Tasman Peninsula Australia. It used to be known as Devils Point. It takes nearly a 3 hour bush hike just to get vehicle access to take you to the break. It requires a few things: 1. A tow-in 2. Smarts (or lack of them) 3. Balls. The video after the jump can sum up the rest.
